Diaphragm Walls

Producing deep trenches in the ground for diaphragm and cut-off walls using the Bauer slurry trench cutter is a new economic and progressive technique.

The slurry trench cutter continuously loosens and reduces the size of the soil material and mixes it with bentonite suspension. The spoil reach suspension is pumped through hoses to the desanding plant for re-generation of bentonite slurry and eventual return to the trench.

Installation of reinforcement cages and pouring of concrete for diaphragm walls occurs in the same manner as with the conventional grab methods.
The Bauer slurry trench cutter is designed to produce deep trenches in the ground for diaphragm and cut-off walls up to 60 meters deep (and more if required). Bauer’s cutters have been developed for operation in congested sites and city centers.
